The Flavor Point Diet is premised on creation of meals, whose flavors help your appetite center recognize this point sooner so you do not over eat and gain weight. How does this work? This works based on a well-known scientific fact, that the Flavor Point, it is a phase in your eating experience where the appetite center (hypothalamus) in your brain recognizes the fact that your appetite has been satisfied. The Flavor Point diet is arranged around flavor themes. This means, each day has a set of meals based on a specific flavor. You could get apple flavored meals on Monday, oregano on Tuesday, or blueberries on Wednesday, etc. Better yet, you do not feel deprived of food or nutrients at any time. David L. Katz M.D. a renowned authority on nutrition and weight controls, working at the Prevention Research Center and the Rudd Food Center for Food Policy & Obesity at Yale University, is the writer/creator of this diet. He conceived of this diet program and tested the recipes by conducting a pilot study of 20 women, men, and their families for over 12 weeks at the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. At the conclusion of the research project, the participants and their families saw their body fat drop, blood sugar, and cholesterol, insulin, and blood pressure drop significant levels. Dr. Katz said The Flavor Diet book , whose recipes have been created with the help of his wife Catherine a neuroscientist, has three aims:To guide people, to stay committed to their weight loss goals, in a responsible manner. Be an agent of positive change, by altering the negative concepts Americans have and feel about dieting. Change the way the foods are cooked and presented in homes, hotels, and restaurants. Dr. Katz contends todays prevailing culinary environment has led to flavor overload, leading people to eat more, before they feel full. For whom is the Flavor Point Diet intended? Dr. Katz recommends the diet to be used by persons with an obesity problem, chronic dieters, and those who simply choose to eat the healthy way. The Flavor Point Diet can be a healthy aid in lowering the obesity levels, for in the United States today, obesity has become a serious health epidemic. Figures taken from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from to 1999-2002, show that 15% of American children ages 6-11 and 64% of adults aged 20 years up are classified as obese. The second reason, is the fact that every year, hundreds of diet and "weight loss" programs are introduced. A majority is faddish, and some of these are dangerously very unhealthy. The Flavor Point Diet plan with its three dieting phases, where the more obvious flavors are set at the beginning and the subtler ones towards the end, will suit the chronic dieter. For the chronic dieter has a tendency to jump from one diet fad another, or skip certain stages in a diet plan. The nutritional profile of the diet is steady, and it meets all the dietary guidelines. Because of these, the chronic dieter can safely stay at any phase of the diet plan, for an indefinite time, stay healthy, and keep losing weight.Lastly, the diet plan is intended for and is appropriate for all the members of a household, whatever ages they may be. The Flavor Plan Diet provides you with the ability to select one flavorful food and to eat only this, to your heart is content for as long as you want to. You will feel full and satisfied. Your nutritional requirements are met, even if you are eating fewer calories. See the unofficial support site at http://www.flavorpointdiet.org for more info.
This the third day of dieting in my weight loss program and it will be the last daily report in this series of articles to avoid you becoming bored with repetition. By now you will have the idea that I only give up one type of food each day and in general eat what I please - within reason. The caveat is that you must be aware of serving sizes because it is due to over-generous serving sizes that the majority of us are dieting. In future I will publish three articles each week rather than seven. If you have a question you wish to ask please use the comments link at the bottom to list your question and I will reply to all questions.Today I will not eat any potatoes or potato products. Because I exercised yesterday I will not exercise today but will remain aware of things like parking as far from the supermarket entrance as possible and using stairs rather than escalators. - This now a part of my daily routine. Today started as normal by walking to the village to pick up my daily newspaper. This walk is now extended to approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) Breakfast is cornflakes with mixed dried fruits and nuts and milk and a banana and lime smoothie. (When I first wake up, before going to buy my newspaper, I drink a large glass of water. - This isn't compulsory but water has zero calories.) 10.30am I stop work to take a cup of lemon green tea. 11.30am feeling peckish and I eat a raw carrot. 1pm and its time for lunch. Lunch is a ham and salad sandwich on whole-grain bread, an apple, a banana and a glass of fruit juice. After lunch I walk for ten-minutes, just a casual walk to help digest the food. 6pm is dinnertime, I like to eat early. Today was Filet Mignon with French beans and asparagus. My wife had a couple of boiled potatoes with her meal while I left a space on my plate where they would have been. (This diet is really so easy to contend with because I can have potatoes tomorrow if I please.)Hopefully the people that have joined me on this "weight loss" program are starting to settle to the new routine by now and starting to become vigilant about serving sizes. I just want to repeat that during this period there is definitely no beer or drinks that fizz, even if they have sugar free or low calorie etc. printed on the label. Just accept that these drinks are a weight watchers biggest headache and do no good for your diet at any time.Next article will cover two days and be published two days from now. This article is copyright David McCarthy, 2006. Have you ever wondered why there are so many diets out there on the marketplace these days? With new diets popping up on the Internet and in health and wellness journals all of the time, the phrase yo-yo dieting says it all. If the South Beach Diet doesnt work, there is always the Beverly Hills Diet, or the Cabbage Soup Dietorthe list seems endless! If you are a serial dieter then you literally have no end to the options you can pick and choose from. What you really need to know though, is that it is not the diet that controls the weight loss, it is the person behind the diet. If you have not yet come to understand what, if any, importance food weighs in your life, and you are bouncing from one diet plan to the next diet pill, to the next gym membership then you need to realize that it isnt the diet that is failing you, but rather it is you failing the diet.So what are some of the key things you can do to stay on track for a healthy lifestyle that involves a long term "weight loss" plan? Try these options:1. Dont follow a diet plan, but instead count your calories - You can buy a calorie chart at any bookstore and keep track for yourself how many calories you are consuming daily.2. Stay away from fatty fast foods - Fast food restaurants may be fast and easy, but they serve up high calorie food that isnt nutritious in the long run.3. Make water your best friend - Water is an essential part of life. Everyone needs water because it helps to lubricate our joints. There are minerals in water that our body needs and our metabolism needs water in order to help us break down the protein in our body to supply energy. A person needs to drink at least 2 liters of water daily!4. Stay away from alcohol - Alcohol dehydrates you. If you want some proof, remember your last hangover? After you came away with the sluggish, headachy feeling, were you craving a big glass of water?5. Dont skip meals - People mistakenly believe that if they skip meals they will lose weight? Skipping meals will just make your hungrier in the long-run and you will eat MORE food.6. Stay active - Discipline yourself to be physically active. Dont overdo it (and check with your doctor first). Create a program that you can work with. Set realistic goals and look around your environment for ways that will increase your physical activity without interrupting your day. Take advantage of any stairs you might have at home or in the office. Dont take the elevator or escalator, take the stairs!7. Gather support - Talk to your family members and loved ones. Involve them in your new healthy lifestyle. Plan family outings where there is a good amount of walking. Plan vacations with activities in mind that will involve the entire family. The commitment to "lose weight" is within yourself.Strengthen your resolve and keep your goals small and attainable.
Would you like to know how to make losing weight, no matter how many pounds, as simple as brushing your teeth? When you wake up in the morning or go to bed at night, do you dread having to brush your teeth? I know when I was a little kid, I hated to have to brush my teeth, but now it is not something I even think about. I just do it. Imagine if your weight loss and weight management could be just something you do naturally. Not something that stresses you out, gets you upset, and makes you complain, “Why are other people so lucky they don’t have to deal with this?” Let’s face it, “having to lose a couple of pounds” whether it’s a few of pounds or in the three digits, the process is not, “Yea, I won the lottery, what fun.” Having to lose weight can easily become an overwhelming event that bothers you all the time, crumbles your self confidence, is dangerous to your health, and if that wasn’t enough, it undermines your love life. So, back to when I was a little one and brushing my teeth. I hated to brush my teeth, but then something changed. It wasn’t until I gave up fighting against brushing my teeth and accepted that is a very important thing for me to do, that it all changed. Very shortly after that decision, brushing my teeth became a habit that I did in the morning and at night without even thinking about it. The action of brushing my teeth didn’t change, but my reaction to having to brush my teeth did and it made all the difference. So, how does this apply to losing weight? What if there are three actions you can take that once they are made into habits, your weight loss will become natural and you wouldn’t even have to think about? You will get to be the person that everyone else envies saying, “Why is it so easy for him/her to look so great?” Would it be worth it to accept these three new actions into your life and make them habits, if they will guarantee effortless weight loss that you don’t even have to think about? How about if those actions also provide outstanding health? I must warn you that there will be a level of discomfort in making these actions into habits, only because you are in the habit of not doing them. Normally, people mislabel this as hard, when in reality, it just feels different because it is new. But feeling different is a good thing. That means you are changing and opening the doors to your new life. Are you ready to find out what those actions are? They are not earth shattering, but you can not get around them and until you accept them and turn them into habits, you will end up fighting natural laws and struggling the rest of your life. Finally, those three actions are; consistent exercise, eating healthy, and reduction of stress. Simple? Yes, but stay with me here. Imagine if you did consistently take these three actions and they became habits. We are talking about taking the above actions without thinking and without feeling that you are getting deprived. It’s easy to say your weight loss would be effortless; however, the only real road blocks are turning those actions to habits. Unfortunately, we were not taught a systematic means to destroy old habits and build powerful new ones. I invite you to stop the struggle of fighting against the natural laws of the human body. One way or another, it will all come back to consistent exercise, eating healthy and reduction of stress, to achieve lasting results. Turn those simple actions into habits and you will end your weight loss struggles forever.
To be healthy is the ultimate desire of the young generation. A healthy body is defined as a proper ratio of height and weight of an individual and it is called mass index. If mass index exceeds the body ratio then it is treated as an obesity case. There are mainly two advantages of healthy body; increase in resistive power to fight back the disease, and improve self-confidence level of the individual. Keeping body fit helps the individual to progress in all the walks of life. To overcome obesity is the primary requirement of an individual and to overcome this, strong will power and patience play an important role. But in most of the cases, people are unable to cope up with these factors; thus some of the medicine experts introduced weight loss tablets in the market. These pills help in reducing the excess weight and keep the individual fit and healthy. One of such pill is the Phentermine, which acts as an agent in suppressing the diet and appetite. When diet and appetite is in control, body automatically responds to the mass index of the individual. The Phentermine is one of the best diet suppressant medicines available in the recent market. It has a certificate approved by the FDA and it is working in this field since 1953. It helps in reducing weight in just two to three months. The proper ratio of metabolic rate and the calorie ratios are properly maintained with the help of Phentermine. Another reason for Phentermine to be popular world wide is the cost of the pills as compared to other "weight loss" pills. Phentermine pills are cheap and fulfill the desire of being healthy and fit.As we know that the Phentermine is a medicine that controls the appetite, it is also an Anorectics class of drug. The main job of these pills is to affect the serotonin conditions of the brain and in turn reduce the quantity of intake. Due to this the individual is less attracted towards the fatty foodstuffs and gains control over the excess calories. Every medicine takes time to show actual effects and the same is the case with Phentermine, so people taking Phentermine pills should have patience and will power.Phentermine does not boast about its popularity neither it is a magic pill because Phentermine work for those people who are ready to carry out daily workouts nor stick to the balanced diet. It is a two way process. Once you are ready to follow the system then only Phentermine will work for you otherwise the result will not be achieved as per your anticipation. The Phentermine pills are recommended to those patients who are suffering from obesity and other illness related to over-weight. People with heart problems should not go for Phentermine. Pregnant women are advised to stay away from Phentermine and in case they are already taking Phentermine, should consult their doctor for the right kind of doses; otherwise the new born baby may lead to abnormalities. Brest feeding mothers are not recommended to take Phentermine pills. There are various formulae available in case of Phentermine pills, one of them is quick release formula that provides fast impact on the blood stream and helps in controlling the appetite and reduces the weight enormously. The second formula works with time frame, in which the medicine mixes in blood stream after 12 hours and after this period only, the actions start for controlling the appetite. The obesity patients who are undergoing treatment with Phentermine are advised not to engage in activities such as driving and working on heavy machineries. Individuals have to follow Phentermine pills for three to four months and during this period they have to carry out regular exercise and follow correct dose of the pills.
